Working Title: Assoc Dir-Alumni Relations

Job Summary/Essential Functions: Under the supervision of the Director of Alumni Advancement, this position is primarily responsible for developing and executing long-range strategic, cohesive and creative engagement initiatives for Eastern Washington University Office of Alumni the EWU Alumni Association.

The Associate Director collaborates with the Alumni and the Marketing and Communications Department to create and implement programming and communications that increase the visibility and accessibility of the Alumni Association, continue to grow the web and social media presence, and encourage a lifelong relationship with the EWU Alumni Association.

The Associate Director of Alumni Engagement develops and maintains relationships with the EWUAA board and is expected to attend most organized alumni and donor events and is responsible for engaging new alumni and donors at such events.

This position requires the overall knowledge of alumni and annual giving activities and programs. It requires exceptional customer service, communications, leadership, personal relations and organization skills. It requires familiarity with and respect for ethics and human relations in order to work closely with volunteers/donors and development privacy regulations. It also requires that this position perform and represent the department in a professional manner through tasks performed with a high level of accuracy in a timely manner, meeting required deadlines, and treating all customers with the highest level of respect.

This position will be responsible for travel and event attendance and therefore will be required to work a various work schedule. They will also be responsible for organizing staff, students, faculty and volunteers that participate in these events.

This position will be responsible for initiatives that require skills related to relational database manipulation. This position will be responsible for travel and event attendance and therefore will be required to work a varied work schedule.

Incumbent must be able to lift, up to 25 lbs, for event related activities.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree

Five or more years of professional work experience in public relations, marketing or communications. Experience must include demonstrated experience using social media platforms and event planning.

Must have demonstrated experience managing online communities including Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Eagle Link, Instagram, and Google

Three or more years of experience developing brand awareness through print materials, email communications, website content and advertising and/or persuasive writing.

Must have professional experience with soliciting volunteers and/or resources.

Excellent writing/proof-reading experience.

Strong organizational skills.

Superior customer service skills.

Proficiency in MS Office suite

Valid Driver's license.

Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications: Degrees from Eastern Washington University preferred.
