Program Assistant-Disability Support Services

Job Summary/Essential Functions:

The position will perform a wide variety of duties requiring knowledge specific to the program, and will provide students, staff, program participants and/or the public with information and interpretation of policies and activities related to the Disability Support Services.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to: composing/typing letters, memos, and reports; developing/maintaining department databases; preparing brochures; serving as the first point of contact and providing information on Eastern's disability services, policies and procedures to potential and current students, staff, faculty and the public; taking and transcribing meeting minutes; supervising and delegating work to student employees and volunteers; coordinating textbook taping services; budget maintenance activities; and preparing written agreements (contracts) for services provided by persons outside the university.

Position will also handle general office activities such as ordering supplies, preparing purchase requisitions, assisting with travel requests, assisting with contracts, reception activities, making appointments and arranging meetings, keeping Director's calendar, filing, and maintaining confidential files.

Conditions of Employment:

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt or, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. Successful applicant will be required to pass a background check for continued employment.

This is an agency shop position.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school graduation or GED

Two years of full-time clerical experience.

Specific Position Requirements:

Experience working with the disability community

Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of sign language.
