Description:
The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Baylor University seeks to hire a full-time, regular Lecturer of Spanish with an emphasis in Spanish for Heritage Speakers to begin in Fall 2025. This appointment is a renewable, benefits-eligible, teaching-focused position with a promotion path to Senior Lecturer for successful candidates and to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates (see: Policy on Full-Time Lecturers, Senior Lecturers, and Teaching Professors at Baylor University).

Qualifications:

M.A. in Spanish required; Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics or a related field preferred.
The ability to contribute to curriculum development and program oversight for our Spanish for Heritage Speakers program is strongly desired.
The successful candidate will show evidence of excellent teaching abilities, have ample experience teaching Spanish courses to both Heritage speakers and Second-Language learners, and demonstrate familiarity with current research on Spanish as a Heritage Language and Heritage language pedagogy.
Experience in course or program coordination desired.
Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English is required.
