Job Description:
Madison College is seeking a Maintenance Repair Specialist to join the Facilities Planning team. This position involves general, non-mechanical maintenance and repair work of a routine and relatively non-complex nature. Responsibilities include inspecting, maintaining, and repairing various surfaces such as floors, walls, ceilings, doors, brick, masonry, glass, tile, wood, and laminate fixtures. Additional duties involve moving, modifying, assembling, and setting up demountable wall systems, systems furniture, office furnishings, and suspended ceiling systems. The role also includes hanging pictures, bulletin boards, whiteboards, and other instructional training aids, as well as performing setups for special and scheduled events and picking up and delivering supplies between campus locations.
The Maintenance Repair Specialist typically performs work under the direction of the Director of Planning & Construction Management, with occasional collaboration and supervision of student help.
The is a full-time position with scheduled working hours of Monday through Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pm.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Performs general preventive, corrective, parts replacement, and predictive maintenance tasks on building non-mechanical systems such as floor and wall coverings; ceiling tiles, doors, walls, walks and drives, masonry, glass, tile, and wood and laminate fixtures. Repairs or replaces damaged wall coverings, damaged doors, broken glass, damaged ceiling tiles and grid, caulk, tuck point joints, cove base and mop boards. Repairs/ replaces/ patches damaged or worn carpet, carpet tile and floor tile.
- Plan with contractors to obtain quotes and schedule work.
- Performs drywall and plaster repair including taping, mudding, touch-up and painting. Makes, moves, installs and repairs exterior and interior signage throughout the District's facilities.
- Performs installation of floor and wall coverings to include wallpaper and vinyl coverings, demountable partitions, suspended ceiling systems, cove base, television mounts; hangs pictures, bulletin boards, chalk boards and other instructional training aides.
- Installs, moves, assembles, and modifies demountable wall systems, systems (modular) furniture, and other office furnishings
- Performs furniture set ups and take downs for special and scheduled events.
- Arranges furniture to accommodate special needs for events scheduled within District facilities.
- Picks up and delivers materials from vendors.
- Transfers materials and supplies between campuses.
- Relocates movable furnishings such as file cabinets, chairs, tables, desks, etc., from location to location.
- Performs adjustments, repairs and replacements to doors and overhead doors including associated controls and hardware such as: closers, locks, hinges, panic bars and automatic controls.
- Performs maintenance and repairs on all custodial equipment.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Skill in communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated skill in communications and human relations with populations of diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds and persons with disabilities.
- Knowledge of basic math and algebra.
- Knowledge of basic wood working skills.
- Knowledge of basic construction materials and processes. Knowledge of building codes.
- Knowledge of proper use of hand and small power tools associated with maintenance tasks. Knowledge of basic safety procedures associated with maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of basic microcomputers.
Minimum Requirements:
- One (1) year post-secondary. *Experience used as an equivalent of an educational requirement is in addition to any experience required by the position.
- Two (2) years of directly related experience to the skills required for successfully performing the duties of this position.
- Valid Driver's License
