Position Summary: This is a time-limited staff position being funded through a UNC System Office initiative. Continued employment is subject to funding availability. The primary location of this position is the Cullowhee, NC campus.

The WCU School of Nursing has prioritized creating a culture that supports the University's goal of inclusive excellence and expanding access to this rewarding career field. The overarching purpose of this position is to support students who wish to pursue a career in nursing through one of the SON's degree programs.

The Student Success Coordinator will manage admission and support processes within the SON. In addition, they will be responsible for directly advising and supporting students interested in pursuing nursing majors, using a holistic, high-touch advising model.

This position will be part of the pre-professional committee that advises undergraduate students interested in and admitted to nursing programs with a special emphasis on supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Student Services Coordinator will use critical thinking to identify student needs for support services and problem solving and make recommendations to students, faculty, and staff to support effective advising of our students. The person in this position will need to collaborative effectively with multiple community and campus partners to carry out admissions, on-boarding, and student support responsibilities. The specialist will organize admissions processes and materials to ensure efficient processing of applications to nursing programs within the SON, according to university and School of Nursing policies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this position:

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
