The Division of Continuing Education encourages applications for the International Programs Manager and Advisor! This is a part-time (30 hrs/wk), professional exempt position responsible for supporting the development and implementation of short-term university and government-sponsored programs. Working closely with the IEC leadership team, this role leads all aspects of the day-to-day operations of international programs, student orientation, cultural activities and events, and program reporting, and assists with proposal writing. Additionally, this position serves as a Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) and Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for IEC programs, leading all aspects of non-immigrant student status, including advising, processing, and record-keeping.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be


Program Management:
  • Supports the development and implementation of short-term university and government-sponsored programs, student orientations, immigration workshops, event planning, and cultural activities.
  • Is responsible for the day-to-day operations of short-term university programs while in session.
  • Analyzes partner and program assessment and makes recommendations for program and student service improvements.
  • Serves as liaison with short-term university partners overseas.
  • Participates in recruiting events and webinars in targeted international regions.
  • Supports proposal research and writing for the development of new short-term international programs.
  • Assists with the recruitment of a diverse student body at the IEC.
  • Works closely with the Director, Assistant Director of Special Programs and Communications, and faculty members to ensure that short-term program goals and services align with the IEC, Continuing Education, and University standards.

SEVIS Management and Immigration Advising, PDSO and ARO:
  • Serves as authority on all nonimmigrant student-related matters; ensures that U.S. government Student Exchange and Visitor Program (SEVP) policies are consistently and accurately implemented.
  • Issues student non-immigration documents for F-1 and J-1 visa holders and their dependents.
  • Works with a wide range of visa types (i.e., F-1/F-2, J-1/J-2, B-1/B-2, etc.) and provides individually tailored advice on immigration matters to students as well as parents, and third-party sponsors.
  • Uses SEVIS and batch SEVIS management systems to issue non-immigration documents, to monitor and maintain student records, and to meet reporting requirements pursuant to federal regulations.
  • Researches and maintains up-to-date information on all SEVP/ Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and US Department of State regulations and policies by reading relevant publications and attending workshops and conferences when possible.
  • Serves as the IEC's liaison when student immigration issues need to be resolved with SEVP, DHS, and/or other academic institutions.
  • Conducts workshops for students on relevant issues such as maintaining non-immigration status, term exemptions, program extensions, and transfer.
  • Coordinates with DSOs at other institutions to verify students are in good academic standing and have valid status before approving transfer to IEC.
  • Manages the transfer of students from the IEC to CU Boulder.
  • Supervises DSO responsibilities of one IEC staff member.
  • Tracks international student enrollment data to complete various reporting requirements.


What You Should Know


The work schedule for this position is onsite, Monday- Friday, 8:00-5:00 pm, with some possible evenings or weekends. During student breaks, hybrid or remote work is allowed. Onboarding assistance may be available per divisional guidelines.


What We Can Offer


The starting salary range for this position is $52,500-$54,000 annually.

What We Require

  • Master's degree.
  • 5+ years of experience serving as a Primary Designated School Official (PDSO), Designated School Officer (DSO) and/or Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO).
  • 3+ years of experience at a university Intensive English Program.


What You Will Need

  • Knowledge of nonimmigrant student status laws, regulations, and advisement.
  • Experience with SEVIS.
  • Experience with ESL program management in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with proposal writing.
  • Capable of leading orientation sessions and workshops.
  • Strong cross-cultural communication ability.
  • Well-developed organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed.
