Health and Safety Instructor (Temporary)


The University of Notre Dame (ND.jobs) is accepting applications for a Health and Safety Instructor (Temporary).

The University of Notre Dame, as an Authorized Provider, in collaboration with the American Red Cross supports the mission of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Both entities would like to help increase the preparedness of our communities by offering courses in CPR/AED/First Aid Training for lay responder and CPR/AED/First Aid for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers courses on Notre Dame's campus. Classes can be taught for Adult only or Adult and Pediatrics (includes infant and child).

The Health and Safety Instructor's primary responsibility is to instruct course options under the American Red Cross programs to students, faculty, staff, and community groups on Notre Dame's campus. This position is responsible for providing high quality and superior instruction to assist participants in gaining a two-year certification. The instructor will be involved in establishing the dates and times, submitting request for classes as needed to the American Red Cross, collaborating with the Medical Outreach Department to provide current information to be listed on the Classes link under Medical Outreach on the University Health Services website, to provide communication with participants, to provide necessary reports, submit grades, and managing/cleaning equipment in their possession or under their delegated responsibility. The instructor will have access to online training management systems to manage course records and as a resource for teaching courses. Must have flexibility to teach classes during business, evening, and weekend hours as needed. Classes are offered year-round based on demand with peak months including April, May, July and August.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Must be certified and provide verification as an Instructor to teach CPR/AED/First Aid for lay responder and for professional rescuer/healthcare provider through the American Red Cross.
2. Ability to communicate course material in a clear and understandable manner.
3. Ability to teach effectively in an adult learning environment.
4. Flexible schedule required.Must provide own transportation to/from campus.
5. Basic computer skills and demonstrated ability to utilize MS Office programs.
6. Must be able to work with the Assistant Director of Medical Outreach to schedule dates and times for classes, reserve class location space, submit course request to the American Red Cross, communicate with participants registered for class, answer questions based on blended learning needs, and submit roster of successful completion to the American Red Cross and the Assistant Director of Medical Outreach.
