Job Summary: The Office of the Registrar seeking a Specialist who will be part of a team that serves as the primary points of contact in providing quality customer experiences for students, staff, faculty and all other customers seeking guidance for enrollment, registration, graduation, transcripts, transfer evaluation, and other general student affairs services.This role is responsible for a variety of duties in the Office of the Registrar and Academic Records, including but not limited to answering telephones, greeting guests, processing records, registration and other aspects of the front desk operation.This position serves as the initial contact for all guests and works closely with other areas within Student Affairs such as the Financial Aid Office, Admissions, Advising, Cashiers Office, Orientation & Student Success etc.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Provide assistance to prospective, new and returning students.
  • Provide information on registration, graduation, transfer evaluation, transcripts, and all processes surrounding enrollment.
  • Maintain proficiency of policies and procedures within the Office of the Registrar and the College at large.
  • Provide reception duties as well as telephone assistance.
  • Assist students over the phone.
  • Communicate effectively through in-person and email correspondence.
  • Perform temporary projects and other duties as assigned by departments within the Office of the Registrar.
  • Perform clerical functions that relate to registration, graduation, transfer evaluation, transcripts, enrollment processes and maintenance of student records.
  • Provide a high level of customer service, answering calls, emails and in-person inquiries.
  • Provide registration assistance to students, faculty and staff over the telephone, in person and email.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties Continued:

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma
One (1) year work experience working in a student services or customer service environment.

Preferred Qualifications: Telephone experience and expert telephone etiquette. Expert customer service skills. Basic computer knowledge; i.e. Outlook and Microsoft Office (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint). Ability to speak Spanish

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of SLCC policy and procedures for registration, college catalog and schedule useand various student affairs departments. Effective customer service skills. Knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel). Good phone etiquette Exceptional customer service skills Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
