Job Summary:
Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a Health Promotion Facilitator. This position is a key member of the school's Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center (RMPRC) and will facilitate and implement for their School and Community Wellness Programs (SCWP), working with preschoolers, elementary students, parents, and school staff in low-income preschools/elementary schools to focus on the promotion of nutrition education, physical activity, and overall health and wellness.
The individual in this position will work under the supervision of a Program Manager and the guidance of the program staff to ensure the program is following policies and procedures as required by the University.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit directors, teachers, and parents/caregivers to participate in health promotion committees, wellness activities, and parent wellness workshops.
- Assist with trainings for preschool/elementary staff to increase capacity and ensure fidelity to the RMPRC-SCWP program philosophy and goals.
- Identify, recruit, and train school staff and parents to become Wellness Champions to help identify opportunities for nutrition and physical activity in the school community.
- Disseminate written material and model activities with children, parents, and teachers to increase moderate to vigorous physical activity and increase consumption of fruits and vegetables.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with classroom staff (e.g. communicate and follow up with classroom staff via email, phone, and in-person/on-site).
- Facilitate one-time parent workshops and multi-week workshop series.
- Organize and prepare program materials, including grocery shopping and delivering materials to schools and community settings.
- Administrative duties, including data input, receipt and mileage processes, business credit card responsibilities, etc.
This is a full-time position and reports to the School Wellness Program Manager.

The overall mission of the Rocky Mountain Prevention Research Center (RMPRC) is to shorten the time it takes to implement evidence-based practices in school settings so that students, school staff and parents can enjoy healthier, happier lives. Within RMPRC, there is the School and Community Wellness Programs (SCWP), and their responsibilities include working with preschoolers, elementary students, parents, and school staff in low-income preschools/elementary schools focusing on promoting nutrition education, physical activity and overall health and wellness and are located in one of the following geographic areas: Denver metro area, El Paso, Pueblo, San Luis Valley, Southeast, or Weld counties in Colorado.

- A bachelor's degree in education, nutrition, public health, health and wellness, psychology, sociology or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- Substitution: A combination of experience working in education or a school setting, non-profit or community organization, health, and nutrition promotion field, and/or a related field may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- One (1) year of professional level experience.
A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and/or written).
- Experience with health promotion and working in a school setting.
- At least 2 years of experience in an education setting (e.g. public schools, preschools, etc.).
- Public speaking and group facilitation experience.

- Must possess and maintain current valid driver's license, reliable transportation, satisfactory driving record, and personal automobile liability insurance.
- Must be willing and able to drive own vehicle for work (state mileage reimbursement available.)

- Must have and use a personal data phone for minimal daily use.
- Must be able to comfortably lift 25 pounds and perform physical demands (loading and unloading items out of your personal vehicle).

Anticipated Salary Range:
The starting target salary for this position has been established as $50,000 - $61,000.
The above salary represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
