Job Summary:
This position works within the Department of Pathology Informatics Team to provide clinical desktop management support, maintain the stability of overall departmental network, computers, software, and related components with respect to clinical, technical, administrative clinical goals. Responsibilities of the position include clinical faculty and technical staff desktop support, user training, software and hardware upgrades and maintenance, disaster recovery, and data security. The position involves constant communication with faculty, residents, technicians, and clinical staff of the University of Colorado Denver campus and Children's Hospital Colorado.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Configuration and Maintenance - 40%
- Configure and deploy computers and hardware. In clinical areas, offices and other areas on campus.
- Install new or update existing, computer hardware on a variety of clinical/office systems.
- Support networked and local printers, copiers and label printers.
Software Installation and Maintenances - 10%
- Research and recommend software purchase and upgrade decisions.
- Evaluate, test, and install new applications as required for departmental purposes.
- Work with vendors to install and update software, document procedures for users, resolve various issues, and recommend enhancements to improve system performance.
- Note: Software includes but is not limited to: Microsoft Windows (desktop and server), Microsoft SQL, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS, currently Cortex), Microsoft Office, and other related software.
Documentation and Accreditation - 10%
- Maintain departmental policies and procedures documentation related to networking, computer management, troubleshooting, testing, data entry, and user processes.
- Assist with maintaining documentation for accreditation and clinical regulatory requirements (CAP, CLIA, etc.)
- Maintain up-to-date inventory of all hardware and software installations.
- Work within project and strategic planning goals on all projects so that timeframes, costs, and resources can be tracked.
- Perform quality control, validation, and testing for all clinical informatics activities.
- Provide documentation of new user's orientation to network, applications, and security.
Help Desk and User Training - 40%
- Orient users, while obtaining proper documentation, to all electronic resources, including but not limited to: computer resources, VPN access, and security protocols
- Provide end-user training as assigned by supervisor.
- Provide support for all users related to network issues, computer configuration, mobile devices, antivirus and security updates, and other related issues.
Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, management/computer information systems, computer engineering, information technology, or a directly related field from an accredited institution
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with: Windows Server 2016+ and RHEL, physical and virtual machine.
- Backup and disaster recover systems, Microsoft Data Protection Manager with storage arrays.
- Active directory experience with best practices knowledge.
- SQL query language with Microsoft and Oracle.
- Healthcare/Laboratory primary business application experience (EHR/EMR/LIS).
- Experience working in an University or State environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $47,594-$60,540
