Job Summary:

The Klug Lab in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics seeks to hire an entry-level research services professional. In the lab, you will perform and support research in the area of auditory neuroscience in-line with the funded research projects in the lab. This includes physiology experiments, animal surgeries, transcardial perfusions, immunohistochemistry and confocal / CARS microscopy. Along with experimentation and data collection, data analysis, preparation of manuscripts and presentations is required as well. The positions will be a combination of supporting the research of other lab members (e.g. by processing tissue for anatomical analysis) and working on an own research project which includes performing the research, analyzing data, and preparing results for publication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with and support Klug lab members and collaborators with laboratory and research functions.
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects.
  • Perform experiments and tabulate and analyze research.
  • Perform data processing and analysis.
  • Maintain lab operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas.
  • Review and implement lab support policies, practices, and programs to meet organizational, operations and management needs.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, neuroscience, psychology, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with auditory behavioral experiments.
  • Experience with tissue sectioning in a cryostat.
  • Experience with auditory research.
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry and microscopy
  • Experience with research design, development of research hypotheses, and methods to test them.
  • One (1) or more years of experience with animal models.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $45,000 - $57,240.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
